Kia ora, I am Alison Holden - Tumuaki of Omarama School.

Omarama School is located in the Waitaki district at the southern end of the MacKenzie Basin. This school is a full primary rural school, with a very supportive parent community. Our location enables us to readily engage with local curriculum opportunities. We are fortunate to have dedicated staff, an educated board of trustees and enthusiastic friends of the school team.

Prior to Omarama School, I spent many years at Twizel Area School, where I completed my Master of Education while undertaking the role of Learning Support Coordinator. I also spent many years in the role of ‘within school teacher’ for the Southern Area Schools Kāhui Ako. I took up the position of Principal at Omarama School in July 2023.

Outside of school I enjoy kayaking and biking, travelling locally and internationally and spending time with family and friends.

A small rural school, like Omarama, allows ākonga to build a love of learning through tuakana-teina relationships.
